Beyond the Books: STEM Work Immersion at ELS Sites

Senior High School STEM students from Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila School have successfully completed their work immersion training at ELS project sites—an experience designed to give students meaningful exposure to professional project environments as they prepare for college and future careers.

Throughout their immersion, students were introduced to the discipline, coordination, and standards required in real-world operations. By observing how teams plan, communicate, and execute tasks on site, they gained a clearer understanding of how academic concepts connect to actual industry practice. The experience also helped strengthen key habits essential to workplace readiness, including professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.

Culminating Activity Under the Beyond the Books Program

As part of ELS’ Beyond the Books program, the immersion concluded with a culminating activity led by managers from various departments. The session provided students with practical insights, guidance, and advice as they begin planning their next steps after graduation.

Managers shared perspectives on career preparation, the value of continuous learning, and the importance of building strong foundations early—both in technical understanding and in professional conduct. The session also offered students an opportunity to reflect on what they learned during their training, including their observations of project workflows, coordination practices, and the responsibilities carried by different roles within a project team.

Supporting Future Professionals

At ELS, we recognize the importance of helping develop the next generation of professionals by creating opportunities that bridge classroom learning with real-world experience. Programs like Beyond the Books reflect our commitment to supporting students as they build confidence, expand their awareness of industry expectations, and make informed decisions about their academic and career paths.

We commend the participating students for their effort and willingness to learn, and we extend our appreciation to the ELS teams who contributed their time and guidance to make this immersion meaningful and constructive.
